Dear Wyndford readers,
A few weeks ago, we asked you to join a waiting list for a season that did not yet have a shape.
The orchards have since made up their mind. November is confirmed, the routes to Ionia and Constantia are booked in, and the farm can finally tell the waiting list what it has been waiting for.
There are three ways to spend the cherry season at Wyndford this year. The difference between them is mostly a question of how much you want to organise yourself.
If you would rather not drive: the Guided Cherry Weekend Tour
This is the version for guests who want the season handed to them from the moment the bus pulls away. Coaches run from both Pretoria, Johannesburg and Bloemfontein, and the whole weekend, Thursday to Sunday, is arranged for you.
You arrive on Thursday to lunch, check in and dinner at Wyndford. Friday takes you to Ionia Cherry Farm and back, with an afternoon cherry picnic lunch at Wyndford and an optional hike before dinner. Saturday is Constantia Cherry Farm, lunch there at your own expense, then home to Wyndford for dinner. Sunday is a slow breakfast and check-out, nothing more asked of you.
This tour runs every Thursday to Sunday through November.

November Availability
Please note that 12 & 13 November are fully booked. The Guided Weekend Tour from Pretoria, Johannesburg or Bloemfontein is therefore not available on these dates.
Self-drive stays are still possible around this weekend, subject to availability. Contact Reception to check available dates.
If you want your own car: the Self-Drive Cherry Getaway, three nights
The itinerary is the same shape as the guided tour, but you keep your own car and your own pace. You drive yourself to Ionia for the picking, and to Constantia, where the visit becomes a proper factory tour: sorting, packaging and how the cherries in your box actually got there.
Breakfast, dinner and the cherry picnic lunch are on Wyndford throughout your stay.

If a getaway is all you need: the Self-Drive Cherry Getaway, two nights
The shorter version keeps the two farms and drops one night. Arrive, check in and have dinner on day one. Day two is entirely cherries: a self-drive morning at Ionia for orchard walks and picking, lunch at your own expense, then Constantia in the afternoon for the same factory and packaging tour, before returning to Wyndford for dinner. Day three is breakfast and departure.
It is the same season in a smaller frame.

Book before the season
Cherry season has never waited for anyone’s diary, and it will not wait for this one either. The dates above are confirmed, but a short season fills the same way every year: gradually, and then all at once.
