June & July at Wyndford

Snow, celebrations and a big thank you
Message from the Editor – Jandré du Plessis
Dear Wyndford Family,
My sincerest apologies for being quiet on the Wyndford front. My mother recently underwent a serious back operation, and balancing everything else made it a little harder than usual to carve out the time to write. But I’m back and what a winter it has been.
July brought more than 600 bookings to Wyndford. From families chasing snow to groups around the braai, it was our busiest month this year. Thank you for your continued support, your friendship, and for filling this old farm with such life.
In June we quietly introduced our first test High Tea for Father’s Day weekend with a spread of cakes and sweets that was surprisingly well received.

On the maintenance side, we got to work repainting inside Belsteen 1 and 6 and continued general upkeep across the property. The Milk Shed area also saw some upgrades as we prepare for spring.

July was full of laughter and snowy boots. Guests flocked to Lesotho for skiing and snow play, and as a family, we crossed over to celebrate my sister’s 21st birthday on the slopes. It was a special trip for us – Free State farmers from the Northern Cape seeing snow up close is always a bit surreal.
We also realised that Wyndford is the closest South African holiday establishment to Afriski, with Caledonspoort just down the road. Snow season is still active until late August, so if you missed it, there’s still a chance.
Christmas in Winter was a highlight too, with local musician Rudo Schwim entertaining us, lamb on the spit, and the Springboks delivering a win. It was festive, relaxed and full of warmth.

Proudly Supporting Farmers
Wyndford was a proud co-sponsor of Lamb Champs 2025, alongside major names like Toyota, Pick n Pay, Old Mutual and others. Lamb Champs is an initiative by SAAI to highlight the extraordinary work done by South African farmers. At Wyndford, we believe rest is part of farming too — and we’re honoured to support those who feed the nation.
We’ve also partnered with a local farmer to supply farm lamb directly to Gauteng. You can:
Collect during your next visit to Wyndford, or
Receive delivery to a central location in your suburb
If you’re interested, please complete the form below or through our website. This supports local agriculture and strengthens the full value chain — from farm to table.

Christmas and New Year Bookings Now Open
A gentle reminder: Christmas and New Year fill up fast. If you haven’t booked yet, now is the time to do it. There’s nothing quite like Wyndford in full festive spirit.
Thank you once again for being part of this community. Whether you came for a snowy weekend, a lamb chop, or just a quiet cup of tea by the fire, your presence means the world to us.
We look forward to spring, to new ideas, and to seeing you again soon.
