February was a month of romance, renewal, and rallying together—both literally and figuratively! From Valentine’s celebrations and stunning weddings to exciting renovations and a powerful community movement shaping the future of Fouriesburg, there’s been no shortage of excitement. Let’s take a look at what’s been happening!
A Valentine’s Celebration to Remember
Love was in the air this month at Wyndford! We kicked off our Valentine’s Weekend with an intimate candlelit dinner on Friday, followed by romantic picnics on Saturday under our beautiful Free State skies. Thank you to everyone who joined us – it was truly a celebration of love in its purest form.
Wyndford Gets a Fresh New Look!
We’ve been hard at work enhancing the beauty and comfort of Wyndford:
Lush New Lawns – We’ve planted fresh, vibrant grass in front of Pevy’s and Camelot, making these areas even more welcoming.
Greenhouse Restoration – After a tree caused some unexpected damage, our dedicated Shawn Oosthuizen gave the greenhouse a full makeover, and we’re excited to start cultivating new plants soon!
A Second Life for Our Adirondack Chairs – What started as a restoration experiment turned into a beautiful transformation – our classic oak chairs have been lovingly brought back to life!
A Wedding to Remember – The Goakes Celebration
Love stories come to life at Wyndford, and this month we had the honour of hosting the beautiful Goakes wedding. In a scene straight out of a fairytale, the bride rode on horseback to the chapel, accompanied by Swarrie – a breathtaking moment that will forever be part of Wyndford’s history.
Mole Cricket Showdown – Protecting Our Bowling Green
Nature can be both friend and foe! We took on the challenge of mole crickets, who were determined to take over our bowling green. After some strategic intervention, the green is looking pristine once again!
Rain, Growth & the Magic of the Free State
February brought refreshing rain showers, leaving our gardens lush, vibrant, and more stunning than ever. Every flower, tree, and blade of grass is thriving, and we can’t wait for you to see Wyndford in its full, post-rain glory

December 2024 marked a transformational moment for our town with the establishment of the Greater Fouriesburg Tourism NPC. This isn’t just about tourism – it’s about community, heritage, and sustainable growth.
For too long, Fouriesburg has been a hidden gem – but now, we are stepping onto the national stage with two landmark events that will bring visitors from across South Africa and beyond.
Fouriesburg Rally (25-26 April 2025) – A Historic First!
Motorsport enthusiasts, this is for you! For the first time ever, Fouriesburg will host a National Rally Championship (NRC) and Northern Regions Rally Championship event—a game-changer for the Free State.
Unlike typical rally routes, the Fouriesburg Rally will challenge drivers with twisting mountain roads, farm trails, and breathtaking high-elevation landscapes, making this a must-see event for adrenaline lovers.
Surrender Hill Marathon (8 March 2025) – Racing Through History
History, endurance, and natural beauty come together in the Surrender Hill Marathon. Named after the site where Boer forces surrendered during the Anglo-Boer War, this race is an emotional and physical journey through the landscapes of the Free State.
Whether you’re running the 42.2km, 21.1km, or a fun 5km, this event is about honouring history, embracing the present, and pushing limits.
With Fouriesburg’s crisp mountain air and rolling hills, there’s no better place to challenge yourself!
