New Stories, New Beginnings: October at Wyndford Holiday Farm!
Dear Wyndford Family,
Welcome to our very first edition of the Wyndford Monthly Newsletter! I’m honoured to carry on the tradition started by the Smiths and share all the news from this place we love so much. This is new for me, so I’d appreciate any feedback or constructive suggestions to make this newsletter something we can all enjoy and look forward to each month.
New Chapter Updates
We’ve had some exciting developments at Wyndford over the past month. Here’s what’s new:
New Shadeports: Our recently inaugurated Shadeports provide 95% UV protection for your vehicles. From Beetles to BMW GS bikes and even Porsches, we’re thrilled to offer this enhanced service for our guests’ comfort.
New Swimming Pool: On October 30, we celebrated the grand opening of our new pool, a project that’s been a top priority since we took over Wyndford. During construction, we uncovered five layers of previous pools (one even built inside another!). After consulting with engineers and concrete experts, we built a reinforced pool with 90 tonnes of concrete, designed to hold 250,000 litres of water. All this effort was to ensure an outstanding experience for our guests, and we can’t wait for you to dive in. Stay tuned for more exciting updates next month!
Snow in September!
Our family, originally from the Northern Cape, had never experienced snow before and Heritage Day weekend gave us a magical dusting, and we loved sharing this rare sight with our guests.
Free State Roses in High Bloom
Our roses are absolutely spectacular this spring, a beautiful display of God’s creation in full view. To enhance the garden even more, we’ll be adding new varieties, like a slower version of Rassie’s Bomb Squad! We look forward to seeing this garden flourish over time.
Guest Groups
This month, we had the pleasure of hosting the talented ladies (and their husbands) from the Scrapbooking Club. A special thank you to I-Scrap for helping us coordinate. While the ladies enjoyed crafting, the husbands took to the greens in Clarens for some golf! We were also delighted to welcome the Maluti Camino group on one leg of their journey, and Philip Wood, our first accredited Wyndford Tour Operator, joined us with a group for a tour of the area.
Wyndford Staff News
Congratulations to our own Rynhard and Natasja, who recently celebrated the baptism of their baby girl in the Wyndford chapel. It was a heartwarming gathering with friends and family.
Historical Tidbit
October 11 marked the 125th anniversary of the Anglo-Boer War, a significant chapter in history that saw the British Empire clash with the Republics of Orange Free State and Transvaal. As a military history enthusiast, I encourage you to visit the nearby Brandwaterkom and Wittebergen Campaign Theatre. We’ll be hosting a commemorative event soon, so keep an eye out for more details.
