Hello! We seemed to have arrived at February very quickly…
We are still here, the rivers rose and rose (..and rose some more!) We enjoyed welcoming new faces and returning friends. Currently in-house we have Jimmy and Una, visitors for the last 29 years who both recently celebrated their 90th birthdays! Wow …a sprightlier pair you’ve yet to see.
For those of you who are birders (crazy bunch usually) – on the new farm there are so many birds that we don’t see at Wyndford. The long crested eagle, common step buzzard, black crowned night heron, cattle egrets, South African cliff swallows, nesting bald ibis are all frequently seen, the malachite sunbirds are here whereas the double collared sunbirds can be seen in the main gardens – and especially in front of the church (great if the sermon isn’t captivating…) the rufous chested sparrow hawk is in both places and you will only get to hear Piet chirping to his vrou at Wyndford! Come sit, watch and listen awhile…
Maybe, with your special love this St Valentines Day! Come spoil yourselves and we will serve you Sunday lunch with romantic flair. (No need to fish for it) I’ve seen the menu…Yum! And yes, it’s this weekend so just do it! (If the pair of bald Ibis dancing in the sky in front of me are anything to go by – love is certainly in the air!)
The team have also come up with amazing ideas for Mother and Father’s Days and others… like the Pony School for Kids (Yes really!!) over the June/July holidays! We’ll update you soon…
We have been having the most spectacular sunsets, soft gentle ones then dark vibrant ones – a real treat and great fun when all our guests come this side for sundowners. We’ll say goodbye for now, as we listen to the distant thunder and glorious birdsong with the delicious aromas of tonight Boueff Bourguignon wafting from the kitchen, and hope to welcome you soon!Happy greetings from the Wyndford team
